Last updated October 9, 2026
Futurpreneur Canada's Core Startup Program offers an equity-free start-up loan of up to $75,000 (including financing from BDC) and up to two years of one-on-one mentorship, per its published information. This page lists the eligibility criteria as published and what to gather before you apply. It is independent and not affiliated with Futurpreneur. Confirm everything at futurpreneur.ca.
The published criteria
- You are between 18 and 39 years old when you apply.
- You are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and you live in Canada.
- You can show some training or experience related to your business idea.
- You are not an agent or contractor working for an already-existing business.
What to gather first
- Photo ID and proof of status.
- Your own credit report (request your own from Equifax or TransUnion).
- Recent personal tax returns and Notices of Assessment.
- A personal net worth statement.
- A business plan and a monthly cash-flow projection.
- Quotes for every major purchase.
- A resume that supports the experience you claim.
The most common weak spots
Plan and spreadsheet that do not match to the dollar, no evidence that real customers will pay, and asking for "working capital" with no itemised use. Overdue tax filings should be fixed before you apply.
Futurpreneur publishes a free cash-flow template. If you want the rest of the preparation in one place, see the Futurpreneur Application Playbook ($29). No guarantee of approval: the lender decides.
